“Let’s go to the bilberries!”: analog photo session with Amy & Rose
“What’s the best way to walk?” Amy asked her daughter Rose after they met me off a very, very, alarmingly sweaty bus to Otley. It made me smile, that I was being taken to new places and also for the grownup not to automatically be in charge.
It was a significant time for them both as Rose had just finished her first day at high school. She was happy and full of energy! Quite amazing, especially considering that she’d had to wear a blazer and tights in this heat.
The afternoon sun was blazing.
Rose found herself a good stick and after we picked a few blackberries together, she bounded off with it into the heather and bilberries. When we reconvened at the top of the hill her knees were purple.
It was such a joy to be walking with them and witnessing their togetherness. It really felt like they were good mates and I could see the love and respect they have for each other.
When we got back down to the big willow (another presence I was glad to spend time with that day) Amy pulled three cool cans of lemonade out of her rucksack. Ahhhhhhh! I was glad knowing it was there for the journey home. I was tired and hungry. I unintentionally took the ∼scenic∼ bus back to Leeds and had a train to catch after that. I leaned into it though, serenely gazing as the sun set and thinking about how it was the first time I’ve traveled for one of these shoots. How all this is a thing now. It was also the first time I’d worked with more than 1 person. I enjoyed it. More please!
Thank you Amy & Rose ☼'*•.¸♡ ♡¸.•*'☼
